david Johnston
Senior Pastor
David grew up in metro Atlanta. He joined the staff at Sandy Plains in 2021 as the Family Pastor and became our Senior Pastor in 2024. He has a Master of Divinity from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. David married his college sweetheart Jennifer in 2008.
Jordan Allen
Minister of Music and Ministries
Jordan grew up in Houston, Mississippi and moved to the Atlanta area in 2025, where he joined Sandy Plains as Minister of Music and Ministries. He holds a Bachelor of Choral Music Education and a Master of Music in Choral Conducting degree from the University of Mississippi under the direction of Dr. Donald Trott. He has performed in Music Educators Association conferences and American Choral Directors Association (ACDA) conferences, along with being a part of a European Tour to Belgium and France. In addition to leading worship, Jordan works with the adult choir.

Pastor To Seniors
Don was born in Florence, Alabama. He has a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama, Master of Divinity from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, KY, Master of Arts Degree from University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, and a Doctor of Ministry Degree from Columbia Theological Seminary in Decatur, Georgia. Don married Sandra Wormal from Princeton, West Virginia on February 25, 1961. He has four children and ten grandchildren.
Terri butler
Children's Ministry Coordinator
Terri and her family began attending Sandy Plains in 2003. In addition to her role as our Children's Coordinator, she also serves as our Weekday Preschool Director.

Student Ministry Coordinator
Lane and his family began attending Sandy Plains in 2019. In addition to his role working with our Middle and High School students, he also serves as a character coach for the Sprayberry High School football team.

Kendall Melton
Ministry Assistant
Kendall grew up in Sheboygan, WI. and moved to Atlanta, GA in May 2011. She worked in Ophthalmology for over 25 years, as a C.O.A., Lead and LASIK technician, and Surgical Coordinator. She married Bret Melton in April 2013, and as a blended family they have 5 children, and 3 grandchildren.
Terri Butler
Preschool Director
Terri grew up in Athens, GA and has a Bachelor of Science degree from North Georgia College. She is married to Ray, and they have 2 grown kids: Mitch and Lindsey.
Janet Earnest
Financial Secretary
Janet was born in Clay Center, Kansas and has a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering & Computer Science from Kansas State University. She married Roy Earnest 1980, and they have three boys.
BILLY BIGGERS
Facilities Manager
Billy was born in Greensboro, NC and has a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry.
He married Vanessa on May 15, 2010, and they have two kids a boy and girl.
